The curriculum includes fundamentals of finance, accounting, microeconomics, probability, and statistics. The curriculum for the MS in Finance program includes the following courses, but course sequence and availability of specific electives may vary. Strong theoretical and practical foundations in corporate finance and valuation, corporate governance, and securities analysis and investments. Finance: Concepts and techniques are applied to problems faced by managers in Corporate Finance, such as working capital management, capital budgeting, capital structure, dividend policy, cost of capital, and mergers and acquisition.

In corporate finance, a company’s capital structure is the total mix of financing methods it uses to raise funds. Emphasis on legal, mathematical and financial structure, provides a micro basis for analysis of the functions and performance of the mortgage market, in conjunction with the housing market. We ensure the accuracy of the firm’s financial information by complying with the rules and regulations governing financial markets worldwide.

The objectives of this course are to provide students with: scenarios that are likely to be encountered and tasks that may be required to be completed upon graduation, opportunities to demonstrate effective time management and team skills, opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge they have obtained at BCIT in an integrative approach, and confidence that they have much to offer to a potential employer.
